January 2026

We are pleased to welcome, Christian Hackenbroch, PhD, originally from Limburg, Germany. He earned his PhD from JMU Würzburg, where his research focused on how platelets shape and drive inflammation. Currently at Stanford, he is excited to pursue new collaborations and translational research in a novel field. Outside the lab, Christian enjoys exploring California’s nature, cuisine, and lifestyle.

Welcome to the Mullally Lab! Maximilian Englert, PhD joins us from Würzburg, Germany. Max completed his PhD at the University of Würzburg, where his research focused on megakaryocyte biology and platelet production. He’s eager to dive into new projects and collaborative discussions with the team. Outside the lab, Max enjoys cycling—especially mountain biking through California’s landscapes—and is always on the hunt for the next great burrito!

We are excited to welcome, Gangpyo Ryu, PhD, to the Mullally Lab! Gangpyo is from Seoul, South Korea, where he completed his PhD studying clonal hematopoiesis. After previously spending time at Stanford as a visiting student, he’s excited to now join the Mullally Lab. He’s been enjoying California’s beautiful nature and the amazing diversity of food, and is looking forward to great collaborations, new ideas, and doing some exciting science with the team!
